10.31.09 Class

Saturday, October 31st, 2009

About 60 degrees and a steady drizzle for the entire class – the rain did not dampen out spirits, however.  We throttled back on the cardio, but more than made up for it on the strength + core portions of the workout.  Today we did push-ups + core + legs in 3 repeating cycles.  Another good solid workout…

10.24.09 and 10.28.09 Classes

Friday, October 30th, 2009

Very light rain both days ended before class, so with a wet surface, we dialed back the intensity of the agility work, and increased the focus on the strength work.  Most feedback I heard was that class was ‘challenging’, and that’s what we strive for.  Good effort all around…

10.17.09 class

Nearly perfect weather.  Dynamic warm-up, with two cycles of push-ups and core work.  Challenging leg routine including squat / lunge jumps.  By the time we finished two rounds of strength stations, we were out of time…  We rarely get to fit everything in, and today was no exception – we accomplished a lot in only 60 minutes…  Great workout…

10.14.09 class

Almost non-existent drizzle – low 50’s.  A bit chilly when we first started, but after a good dynamic warm-up and push-ups / core work we were fine.  Added a group run with some sprints in between two points (from light pole to light pole, for example), alternated with easy jogs.  Some good stations after that, and a solid stretch.  Before we knew it, the hour was over…

10.10.09 class

Beautiful morning.  Slightly overcast gave way to blue skies.  Used playing cards to determine our “fate” for each set of push-ups this morning (8s, 9s, 10s, Jacks = 11, Queens = 12).  Followed that up with some leg work, suicides + knot tying, and finished with stations.  Good class!

10.7.09 class

Wednesday, October 7th, 2009

Light drizzle tapered off to no precipitation at all by the time we started our dynamic warm-up.  Clear, blue skies with a light breeze by the time the class was over.  I keep eyeing the roller hockey rink next to us – Note To Self: need to find a way to use that space for some of our class exercises… The cardio block seemed to get the most attention today – great agility and speed work, and all were winded afterwards.  Tried some rapid jumps to touch the basketball backboards and those were difficult – we will all feel those later today…

9.30.09 and 10.3.09 classes

Tuesday, October 6th, 2009

Experimented with a pushup + core + leg cycle and the feedback seemed positive.  We’ll add this twist to the ever-growing arsenal of class options.  Weather continues to be fantastic.  Lower 60’s and low humidity.  Classes are averaging about 4 to 6 participants these days, and the energy level and comraderie in the group are both contagious.  We’re having fun…
