11.25.09 Class

Wednesday, November 25th, 2009

50 degrees this morning, no wind, overcast – just enough humidity to make layers unnecessary.  Packed in a lot this morning (and not just to impress one out-of-town guest) – everyone “appreciated” the bonus set of push-ups – should make for a ‘guilt-free’ second helping of stuffing tomorrow.  60 seconds of planks-to-push ups may have been the toughest set today…  Happy Thanksgiving!

Mid 40’s, mostly blue sky, with a few ribbons of light clouds.  After a dynamic warm-up, a solid leg routine, followed immediately by five cardio stations – first set with breaks in between each station, and then all five back-to-back.  Push-ups / core, and then triceps / planks / flutter kicks, etc.  Really good energy level this morning.

BEAUTIFUL, crisp fall morning - excellent conditions!

11.18.09 Class

Mid 50’s, overcast, almost non-existent drizzle – conditions were actually quite good.  Tried a new quick reaction drill with the speed ladder – rave reviews.  Shorter breaks on the push-up / core cycle were challenging.  Anonymous quote of the day – “Ouch, my yoga mat just hit me on the head!”  One of the best workouts to date…

Good, solid workout. Cloudy, mid 50’s. Finally, no rain. Added some new speed ladder drills. People’s form on the hurdles is looking fantastic. Hard to concentrate this morning with the smell of BBQ coming from the group of guys tailgating before the UNC/Miami game. Broke a jumprope, which tells me at least the gear is getting a good workout!

An extremely wet Veteran’s Day (and a big ‘Thank You’ to all of our veterans who have served and sacrificed so much for this wonderful country) kept folks away this morning.  A steady rain and mid-50’s at 0800 (see the photo below). We were prepared nevertheless, and experimented with a few new speed ladder and hurdle drills (and snuck in our own workout too…).  Our plan is to be there rain or shine, hot or cold, unless we are specifically scheduled not to have class.  Sometimes the best or most memorable workouts happen in the most adverse conditions.

11.7.09 Class

11.7.09 Class – Temps started out at a brisk 33 degrees – fall is definitely here!  Layers + hats + gloves are now officially on the class gear list…  We started out with legs after a warmup, and then a cardio block, followed closely by some good upper body strength / core work.  Stations + stretching at the end…  Photos show a bit of frost on the grass and the bench, just before the start of class…

11.4.09 Class

Conditions for the start of class were a bit chilly – 40 degrees – but sunny, and things warmed up quickly as we got moving, and as the sun rose up above the treeline.  Layers also helped.  Started with legs today, completed a solid cardio block, and then continued with push-ups + core work.  A few stations at the end (rotator cuff strengthening and planks w/ leg raises), with some stretching to close us out…
